How this tool works

Percentage of: percentage divided by 100, multiplied by the amount.

Change: (new − old) ÷ old × 100.

Discount: price × discount ÷ 100 is what you save; the rest is what you pay.

Margin & markup: profit ÷ selling price gives the margin; profit ÷ cost gives the markup.

How do I work out a discount?

How is percentage change calculated?
The difference between the two values divided by the original value, expressed as a percentage. A negative result is a decrease.
