How this tool works
Safaricom M-Pesa applies tiered transaction bands for sending money and withdrawals:
- Sending Money: Transactions of KES 100 and below are free. Tiered fees apply from KES 101 to KES 250,000 (maximum fee KES 108 for registered users).
- Agent Withdrawals: Minimum agent withdrawal is KES 50. Rates range from KES 11 up to KES 309 depending on the amount band.
- Send with Withdrawal Fee: Automatically adds the agent withdrawal fee to the amount sent so the recipient can withdraw the exact requested cash.

- Yes! Sending money to registered M-Pesa users for amounts of KES 100 and below remains completely free of charge.
- What is the maximum M-Pesa transaction limit?
- The maximum per-transaction limit is KES 250,000, while the maximum daily transaction limit and account holding limit is KES 500,000.
- How does the 'Send with Withdrawal Fee' calculator work?
- When someone asks you to send them money so they can withdraw a specific cash amount, they will be charged a withdrawal fee at the agent. Our calculator works out the exact fee for that amount and adds it to the transfer so the recipient gets exactly what they needed after withdrawal.
- Do I pay transaction fees when paying with Lipa na M-Pesa (Buy Goods Till)?
- No. For customers, making payments via Buy Goods (Till Numbers) is free of charge. The merchant absorbs the processing fee.
